Skills

Many of my skills can be used in combination but they could be generalised into the following types:

Software Development

  • Over three years professional experience (10 years prior to that) creating a variety of software tools, mostly for Microsoft Windows, including all stages of development from design to release
  • Use of mainly Agile programming methods - following incremental development pattern with frequent prototyping and high customer involvement, with an emphasis on producing software that is just what the user wants
  • Languages include VB.Net (Visual Studio), Java (applets), Delphi and earlier types (Basic etc)
  • Examples

Web Development

  • Developed a number of websites for a variety of target audiences, frequently dynamic, database-driven and including e-commerce aspects
  • Languages include ASP, Javascript, SQL, HTML, XML and CSS
  • Sites created with either MySQL or MS Access Database connectivity
  • Use of web-design applications such as Macromedia Dreamweaver
  • Examples

Other Tools/Applications

  • Completed the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) - extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Considerable use and knowledge of Microsoft Excel Macros
  • Experience of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Macromedia Flash as well as many other software applications
  • Touch-typist - most useful skill of all!

Most importantly, as is essential in the industry, I am always looking to pick up new skills and learn to use new programming languages and applications
